On to the next...

OK, yes it's been a while. No excuses No excuses. Thought I'd start writing, posting, and trying to keep this blogger thang going once again..at least for my own self pleasure! I've gone through some real intense and trying times lately which has even made my appreciation and love for art, music, and life that much stronger. These outlets coupled with the love from family and friends are what has gotten me through the many good times and bad. So thanks for that! I like to call it free non-prescription self healing. I love you all. Yup, I really do.

So on to the next, I have some past stories and pics to share but thought I'd start again by sharing a few of my recent art acquisitions.

Banksy released a new print entitled "Donuts". Instead of dropping it at a random time on the Pictures on Walls website like usual, P.O.W. offered this print up via online lottery. You had to register on the POW website and then 598 lucky winners were chosen to win the chance to purchase this classic print. Well folks...I was lucky enough to win and have recieved my first ever Banksy print!!

It came in two colorways..299 Strawberry and 299 Chocolate..I won me some Sexual Chocolate!

This piece was featured in Bansky's latest Banksy vs. Bristol museum exhibit in (where else) Bristol, UK. See for yourselves..

I'm very excited to finally own a piece of artwork from the most world-renowned graffiti artist in the planet.

Some other recent acquistioins include:
Rene Gagnon's "Creation"
Dave Kinsey's "Duality II"

Shepard Fairey's "Jaws Wave"

At Peace in your Parking Lot!

I luckily caught last minute wind of the "At Peace in your Parking Lot" tour which came to Firehouse 13 last night. This is an acoustic tour featuring Vic Ruggiero from the Slackers, Shanti, and Greg Attonito of The Bouncing Souls.

The show was amazing. Shanti's voice is absolutely brilliant and Greg and Vic were great to see in this acoustic intimate setting. They all played together trading off songs and playing new renditions of some Slacker's songs, Bouncing Soul's tunes, some improv, and plenty of new stuff. I look forward to hearing more from these three.

There was only about 20 people in the place and the Uncle was there to capture some video..

South by Southwest - SXSW!

I've been wanting to head down to sunny Austin for quite some time now to check out the SXSW music festival. Finally, I committed and booked my flight!

This was the 26th annual SXSW of which 1000's of independent artists across all genres of music come down to Texas to represent. There were bands and people from all over the planet which led to a truly impressive festival. SXSW is by far the best musical event i've ever been a part of and is now an annual (hope to play at) event for me.

Much love goes out to FAZ, Adria, little Niko, and dog Murray for letting me crash at their "jucuzzi, pool, and fun havin'"pad for the journey!

It was good to see artists that I follow and great to get introduced to a bunch of other random good stuff

I didn't take many pics but I did capture a few highlights...

Tomorrows Bad Seeds!

The Uncle is back..

I caught Tomorrows Bad Seeds open up for the legendary Wailers at Lupos a few weeks ago. This is my first time catching TBS live and they were better than expected. This was their first time coming to the east coast and they received a nice east coast welcome! I ended up meeting the crew and next thing you know they turned up at my house late night for a bit of a wild after party!
It was hard to believe that the band which I blast on beach day mornings was sitting in my living room with me drinking beers and having conversation (etc..etc). They ended up all crashing at my house and taking off the next day around noon for their show in Atlantic City.

The Bad Seeds were a chill group of guys, respectful, and grateful for me putting them up for the night. I made some new friends and next time i'm in L.A. i'll defintely be giving these cats a call!

A pic of Uncle Sima and Tomorrows Bad Seeds in their tour van just prior to them hitting the road again.

Supply and Demand!

I am finally done with my job in UK and have returned home a bit over-tired, over-worked, but safely nevertheless. I will be taking off the next 3 weeks to re-coupe and get back to the swing of things on American soil. So call me up, I miss you all, let's grab lunch, party, or just make-out!

The timing was perfect as Shepard Fairey's solo exhibit at the ICA kicked off on Friday and I was there for opening day. We weren't allowed to take pics so below is all I could capture. It's probably best because its best appreciated if you get off the couch and check it out for yourself. The exhibit will be there all month and closes on August 16th.

The ICA - fantastic venue with the classic Andre looking down

The entrance..

Shepard Fairey was supposed to DJ the after party on opening day which I could not attend as I had an award ceremony to attend for work. In unfortunate news, Shepard Fairey was arrested on his way to the event by Boston police on two understanding warrants. Most likely case....vandalism!

Spoiler alert...don't watch if you plan on attending!

Here we go! Here we go! Here we go!

So I caught a another footy match last night as I attended the Watford vs Burnley match at Vicarage Road Stadium. I have been living in Watford for the past 4 months so I thought it was about time I attend one of thier matches. It was a great atmosphere and Watford pulled off a 3-nil victory. Watford was once owned by Sir Elton John and he was also club president before leaving due to some disputes with club managers.
I live within walking distance of the stadium and on game days I can hear the chants from my balcony. The pics couldn't do this justice so I included a few flicks to capture help cature the moment.
I love soccer chants...

David and Goliath!

Well it was another busy week in the UK this week including two 19 hours work days, Yes that's right 19 hour days! I'm not one of those to brag about the hours I work but this was just silly! I can't imagine how Barack Obama must feel this week!

I am not proud of this and can't wait for this pace to slow down. It's crunchtime..1 week to go!

To treat myself, I picked up this Mear One print to add to the collection. I've been wanting this 11 color screenprint since 2007 but it sold out immediately. I was able to purchase it through Baurmann Gallery as part of a charity sale last week.

David and Goliath

Also check out the limited edition 1 of 1 release of the infamous Uncle Sima!

This signed release can be made available to those interested in exchange for a hug and a big juicy kiss on the lips! Yeoowww!

Bring on 2009!

After 3 weeks back in the states and a wonderful Christmas with the family and fun New Years with my friends...I am back in London.

Happy New Year's 2009! I have high hopes for this year. Let's keep it positive and stick to our resolutions. Remember to smile more in 2009!

Today was my first day walking around London in a while and at a cold -6 Celcius I still managed to take a few snaps of some random artwork I found along the way.

Enjoy..
